Culminating in the mist
Divisive forces of violence
Survival instincts and death wishes
Wisdom and madness
Separated by a thread
Always turning around on them
Spans reaching anyway to both ends
Don’t fall asleep in the mist
There does it rear its head beyond each edge
What is impossible that you feel pulsating
Understanding it is a mirage
Invisible if not obscure
So long has it been
Every night I turn in
Then by daylight I’m turned back around
The sceneries either on fire
Or cold like hailstorms
Green and black eruptions
Were it not for a pattern of light
I would fall for the spiral
But it’s not as if it’s been a great deal of help
For so long has it been
That at night I turn in
And by daylight I’m turned back around
The future feels set in stone
And my memory like a frayed rope
But because of the world
Being so turned around
I can’t find any other way out
The only thing keeping me warm
Is waking up rapt in doubt
Some nights I dream I freeze to death
If I perish, label my corpse
Mark it down on the tails of my coat
But it’s not as if it is a great deal of help
For so long has it been
That at night I turn in
And by daylight I’m turned back around
